Does shilajit boost testosterone?

Can women take shilajit?
Yes. While much of shilajit’s marketing focuses on male vitality and testosterone, there is no evidence that shilajit is unsafe for women or inappropriate for female use. Shilajit’s primary bioactive compound, fulvic acid, has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and mineral-transport properties that are not sex-specific.
The testosterone-boosting effect observed in male clinical trials is modest and operates within normal physiological mechanisms. There is no evidence that shilajit causes virilization (masculine physical changes) in women. In Ayurvedic tradition, shilajit has been used by both men and women as a general health tonic.
Potential applications for women include iron absorption support (shilajit enhances mineral bioavailability, which could benefit women with iron deficiency), energy support, and antioxidant protection. However, controlled clinical trials specifically in female populations are largely absent, so these applications are theoretical based on mechanism rather than proven by direct evidence.

Does shilajit interact with medications?
Formal drug interaction studies for shilajit are limited, but several theoretical and observed interactions warrant caution:
